Practice-oriented and strong in research, interdisciplinary and modern, familiar and cosmopolitan - these are the main characteristics of the University of Applied Sciences Jena (in German: Ernst-Abbe-Hochschule Jena). About 4,300 young people study in the fields of technology, economics, social sciences and health. We employ around 470 people in science, administration, technology and the library. Interdisciplinary cooperation is important to us, in line with our slogan "ENABLING, MOVING, CREATING – TOGETHER." High-resolution microscopy, powerful lasers, humanoid robots and simulation rooms for healthcare - students from all faculties have access to state-of-the-art technology and equipment.

Campus culture

All university buildings are close to each other, short distances are guaranteed. Everyday life is characterised by personal interaction with lecturers and other students. Small study groups enable intensive discussions and individualised support.

Research and Development

As the largest and most research-intensive university of applied sciences in Thuringia, University of Applied Sciences Jena occupies a central position as a driver of innovation in the region. Thanks to our modern infrastructure and specialist expertise, we are leaders in the field of applied research. Close links with companies play a central role here - both regionally and throughout Germany. The majority of our research projects are collaborative projects with partners in order to work together on technological and social challenges.

Our fields of research range from health to materials. There is also the cross-sectional field of digitalisation. The interplay of all these different disciplines enables a creative and innovative approach to research topics and problems.
