Biotechnology
Bachelor of Engineering
The bachelor's degree programme in biotechnology has a standard period of study of six semesters. In the first semesters, students are trained in the basic subjects. These include classical scientific and technical subjects such as mathematics, physics, biology, chemistry, computer science, electronics and microbiology.
In the higher semesters, the vocational training takes place in specific biotechnological subjects such as biochemistry, genetic engineering, bioprocess engineering, bioinformatics, cell culture technology, biodata analysis and bioprocess measurement and control technology.
In the fifth semester, students can also strengthen the content of the study programme through elective modules and align them to their individual interests.
In the sixth semester, a practical module and the Bachelor's thesis follow, which are usually carried out in companies or external research institutions and supervised by professors from the Department of Medical Engineering and Biotechnology.
