Place & time: Train station "Jena Paradies", platform 2, 11:00

The three Dornburg castles are a landmark of the Saale valley and a tourist highlight of the cultural programme. More than 800 years of history are united here. The Old Castle harbours the remains of a medieval castle. The Rococo Castle is a gallant 18th century pleasure palace with a porcelain collection. The Renaissance palace is closely associated with Johann Wolfgang von Goethe.

We take the train from Jena's Paradies station to Dornburg (12-minute journey time) and hike up to the castles from there (approx. 30-minute walk). A visit to the castles and gardens is free of charge. A visit to the museum can be organised individually (admission: €4).

Place & time: Meeting point tba, 11:00

The "SaaleHorizontale" hiking trail, which was voted Germany's most beautiful hiking trail in 2023, leads through the hills around Jena. We hike along the SaaleHorizontale to one of the numerous vantage points from which you have a fantastic view of Jena. If the weather is dry, trainers and sportswear are sufficient for the hike. Don't forget something to drink and a snack for the road!

Participation in the hike is free of charge.

Place & time: Jembo Park Jena (Rudolstädter Straße 93, 07745 Jena-Göschwitz), 19:00
