Laser- and Optotechnologies
Bachelor of Engineering
Enrolment takes place in the respective winter semester (October). The standard period of study is six semesters. During the first three semesters, the focus of your education is on consolidating, deepening and expanding your knowledge of mathematics, physics and languages. You will also be taught the first basic technical subjects.
Subject-specific content is taught in semesters 3 to 6. You can gain your first practical knowledge and experience parallel to the lectures in the internships offered.
The practical relevance of the programme is also underpinned by an 8-week industrial placement. Two further projects with subject-specific content to be completed during the 4th and 5th semesters serve on the one hand to deepen your knowledge of the respective subject-specific basics, and on the other hand train you in an interdisciplinary working style.
Your studies conclude at the end of the 6th semester with the defence of your Bachelor's thesis. You can complete your Bachelor's phase in industry, at research institutions or at universities both in Germany and abroad.
The qualification network of university, industry and research, supported by the Thuringian competence network "OptoNet e.V.", guarantees a high scientific and at the same time practical standard for the content of the topics for the Bachelor's thesis. Furthermore, with the support of the university and the German Academic Exchange Service (DAAD), you have the opportunity to take an additional voluntary year abroad after the 4th semester.
