General Management (M.A.)
What makes this degree programme special?
- Modular overall concept
- Imparting comprehensive management knowledge
- four specialisations
- additional Master's degree possible at UTN Buenos Aires
What is the structure of the programme?
The Master's programme extends over a standard period of study of three semesters. The second semester can also be spent entirely at a partner school abroad. Students are trained in various areas of business administration with several specialised modules. This includes the following focal points:
- Business management
- Marketing, innovation and entrepreneurship
- Finance, accounting and taxes
- Human resources and labour law
Practical experience in later professional life can build on this comprehensive knowledge. Other modules in the first semesters of the Master's programme are, for example, these:
- Corporate Accounting
- International Economics
- Business Information Systems
- Foundation and start-up financing
The third semester is used to write the Master's thesis. This is also discussed and presented in a Master's seminar. A thematic specialisation is not planned in the Master's programme. After graduation, you will have extensive generalist management knowledge and can therefore be employed flexibly. Ideally, this makes the transition from study to work very easy.

What are the entry requirements?
A degree in a Bachelor's programme in economics from a university or an academic degree from a university recognised as at least equivalent with at least 210 ECTS credits is required for admission to the programme. The overall grade of the degree should be at least "good". If a Bachelor's degree with less than 210 ECTS credits was acquired, the possibility of a special study plan to acquire still missing credit points can be used. For admission to the Master's degree programme, proof of sufficient knowledge of the English language is required, which is usually provided either by a TOEFL test or by completing a module in the Bachelor's degree programme in English. The module in English can also be a foreign language module. For foreign applicants, proof of sufficient knowledge of the German language is also required. If the number of applicants exceeds the planned number of admissions, a selection procedure is carried out. The modalities of the procedure are determined by the departmental council.
What career prospects do I have after completing my studies?
Due to the age structure of their founders and successors, medium-sized companies will be increasingly dependent on competent managers in the coming years. Due to the increasing complexity of economic processes, a sound education in the field of global and international business is required.
This will result in a disproportionate need for managers in medium-sized companies in the future. But that's not all - large companies are also divided into medium-sized companies through group structures, which, as more or less independent business units, have a corresponding need for managers.
The knowledge and skills taught in the Master's programme will enable you to take on a management position in precisely these companies. In addition to a qualified in-depth economic education in theory and practice, you will be able to grasp and react to complex interrelationships. You will be enabled to take on the core tasks of managers in companies:
- Plan,
- monitoring,
- Reflect,
- Conceive,
- Coordinate,
- organise,
- controlling and
- Leading.
They are taught an integrated and networked perspective of the functions, processes and decisions in markets and companies and in management. The goal of the education is the professional, leadership and decision-making competent entrepreneurial personality who can act convincingly in a leadership position both professionally and personally. The Master's degree opens up a career path to higher service and doctoral studies.
