Information about Deutschlandstipendium at University of Applied Sciences Jena
- First-year students and students of all degree programmes at the University of Applied Sciences Jena
- Students within the standard period of study (at the time of - possible - funding)
- Enrolment at University of Applied Sciences Jena required
- No selection of students who are already funded by another institution (double funding of more than 30 euros/month is excluded)
- Scholarship holders receive 300 € per month.
- Payment of the scholarship is independent of income and parents as well as BAföG.
- One half is paid by sponsoring companies, foundations or private individuals. The other half is donated by the Federal Ministry of Education and Research (BMBF).
- As a rule, scholarship holders receive Deutschlandstipendium for a period of 2 semesters. Funding for one semester is also possible if the scholarship holder's studies end as planned at the end of the first semester in which he or she receives funding.
- The scholarship starts in the winter semester (1 October of each year).
- Subsequent scholarships are possible, provided that the agreed performance and award criteria are met.
The Deutschlandstipendium is awarded on the basis of talent and performance. In addition to previous achievements and personal background, social commitment, willingness to take on responsibility or special social, family or personal circumstances are also taken into account.
However, these so-called "soft factors" do not have to be completely fulfilled (see points 3 and 4).
The selection criteria at a glance:
- Grades (A-level grades for first-year students, ECTS and average grades for students)
- Performance (e.g. ECTS, shortened study duration, special honours, successful participation in projects, vocational training)
- Social commitment (e.g. education, social affairs, politics, church, sport)
- Personal circumstances (e.g. studying with a child, care, disability, migration, social hardship)

Students of University of Applied Sciences Jena
1. the applications for Deutschlandstipendium will only be accepted online. Please fill out the online form, which will only be open for the application period (16 April to 14 May 2025).
Access to the intranet of University of Applied Sciences Jena is a prerequisite:
- Username: net\UserID (UserID can be found on the thoska)
- Password: EAH password (the same when logging in to Moodle or SelfService)
2. please attach the required appendices to the online application (see checklist):
- in one, single PDF and
- in the order given below.
3. after submitting your application, please check the processing status.
Prospective students (with scheduled start from winter semester 2025/26)

Checklist
- CV (max. 2 pages)
- current certificate of enrolment (for applicants already enrolled at the University of Applied Sciences Jena)
- current proof of academic achievement/transcript of grades (for applicants already enrolled at University of Applied Sciences Jena)
- letter of motivation (max. 2 pages) - The 4 following questions should be answered:
- What are your qualifications for this scholarship programme?
- What do you expect from the scholarship?
- What are your academic/professional objectives?
- What do you expect to have achieved in 5 years?
- assessment by a university lecturer for the respective course of studies (for high-school graduates: assessment by a teacher)
- One assessment is sufficient!
- template of the assessment (in German)
- copies of certificates (Abitur/A-levels diploma, university transcripts, internship and job references)
- Note: In case of foreign certificates, a translation and the conversion of the grades into the German grading system must be submitted (not for students of master`s degree "Scientific Instrumentation" AND not for students, who have completed "Studienkolleg")!
- other proof of societal and social commitment, particular skills, distinctions, prizes and stays abroad
